I just had to make the hardest decision of my life almost 48 hours ago. I had to say goodbye to my bestfriend of 12 years. You were there for everything with me for 12 years; stores, sitting in the car waiting, long drives, ocean city, camping and to Philly just for subs. I want you to know I love you Toast. I am having the hardest time sitting here with your brother and daddy. I lost the one thing I never wanted to lose, but watching you that night, and how hard you wanted to be with us, I hope u know how much you are loved and how much I didn't wanna to do this. Toby Michael Angelo Lee I will never forget the times we had, the memories we made and tears, lots of tears, but most of all the love you gave me and everyone around you. You saved me around this same time 12 years ago. I hope you know how much of a good boy you are. How much everyone loves you. I feel like it's all a dream, but I know when I wake up it's gonna be the hardest mornings of my life without you. Toby thank you for everything you did for us. Daddy and me are gonna miss the shit out of you. Brother is gonna be so lonely without you, but that means we have to give him extra love and make sure he knows we love him.

To the lady who I didn't even know who wrapped her arms around me and held me tight: thank you. I know we both had to do the same thing. Thank you. You don't know how much I needed that.

I've had to say goodbye more times than I would have liked, but everyone can say that. And no matter how many times we do it, even when it's for the greater good, it still stings. And though we'll never forget what we've given up, we owe it to ourselves to keep moving forward. What we can't do is live our lives always afraid of the next goodbye because chances are, they're not gonna stop. The trick is to recognize when a goodbye can be a good thing. When it's a chance to start again.
